Monster Monza

Today's race was pleasant, and as always at Monza, seemed to go by way too quick! I quite enjoyed the penalty handed out to Liuzzi. That *must* have been some form of steward humor!

+While I will admit that Schumacher did a bit of artful blocking today, I found it amusing that The Brown Possum whined about it, considering it is not a foreign defense maneuver of his. I was glad though that Schumacher was warned to lay off and was not punished, as that would have been lame. Whilst McLaren mentioned that he was twice warned by the stewards via Brawn, what I would be curious to know is before Hamilton was ever penalized or warned publicly, had such "warnings" come to him the same way they had to Michael today?

+Not to take away from Vettel's brilliant race craft, but I can't wait for this year to be over and the blown diffusers to be banished and hopefully if Red Bull finds another way to obscurely bend the rules next year, instead of letting it go such as they did with these difusers, the FIA will tell them to eat a dick and all will be well. That car is too fucking fast. Red Bull came up with and developed it before everybody else. Once everybody else realized it was the way to go, they started dumping money and resources in to it. That's the only reason the FIA didn't flat out shitcan it like it intended to was it probably would have really slowed the Red Balls down a lot + the other teams had already wasted all that money because apparently it was not illegal. I'm not salty at Red Bull for exploiting this, I'm mad at the FIA for telling them not do continue to do so earlier than they did.

The Nervous Ferret Rides Again!

I'm not sure how I feel about Jean Todt becoming the new president of the FIA. While I expected him to win, I am surprised at how badly he kicked Ari Vatanen's ass.

If Button does leave Brawn over money issues and joins McLaren or something I'll be kind of offended and surprised. He says racing is not about money but at the same time apparently feels he is not paid well enough. He should join Toyota. I'm sure they'll pony up 20 or 30 million to him and he can not win and be more rich. It would be nice if Toyota one day built a F1 car that was good and had a driver capable of taking it to victory.

Interesting and/or scary

This is all getting really weird. I have no clue what is going on. I hope in the end Max Mosley pisses off and agrees to retire like he is supposed to. I hope Bernard Ecclestone stops being a greedy wrinkly old pixie and gives the teams some more money and stops setting up new races in places for the sake of money and not motorsport. I'm tired of those two old knobs! While I respect both greatly for what they have done for Formula Juan Racing over the past few decades they both need to go away now and enjoy their money elsewhere.

This is about not taking shit offa no one. This is a revolution. I hope it all works out and all ends on paper as it has all started on paper. Hopefully everything will right itself... but I'm kind of nervous. Max Mosley is starting to remind me of a rabid crazy old dog which is quite unsettling. It is like he's nothing left to lose so he's just going to keep being more and more of a twat.

Maybe this is a conspiracy to destroy F1 legally as we know it. Maybe Max, Bernie, and the teams are all in on it... or else this really is just an absurd power struggle. One or the other though.

Either way, it looks like war?

I listen to BBC World News at night when I go to sleep. Something about those proper British voices talking about depressing world events just lulls me to sleep. Even though F1 is FAR more popular overseas than in the US, I still always get excited when they talk about F1 on Sunday nights after a race. Usually they just tell you the top 3 results and play a little interview blurb of the winner... so last night I was quite surprised to hear that the 8 FOTA teams have decided to break away from F1. Especially since they mentioned the breakaway about 4 times an hour for two hours and sometimes would give detailed versions of what happened which I appreciated since I wanted nothing more than to get up and hop on the internet, which obviously was not an option at 3am.

Usually I'm on top of my F1 news but I moved 2 weeks ago and have yet to get cable/internet/phone set up in my apartment so I only get to read up on F1 news every few days when I swing by my folks house.

So I was truly surprised and nervous when the BBC told me what was going on.

FOTA Feets in Mouth

While I understand why some teams/manufactures do not want a puny tiny silly budget capped two-tiered series I also found it hard to believe that they all weren't going to sign up for the 2010 season. While it is hard to imagine a F1 with out Ferrari is is also hard to imagine Ferrari competing in any other series but F1 as its main outlet of competition... so I was not too worried about Ferrari leaving. I don't think anybody really was. I'm not saying it couldn't and won't happen but some thing very foul would have to be a-foot, or happen to cause such a thing to occur.

Another thing I found interesting from lightly reading comments left on news stories regarding Williams breaking ranks and signing up for the 2010 season before the other FOTA teams did were all the people giving Williams a hard time about what they did. All the big manufactures don't need to be in F1. They are in the series to sell cars by competing well. Other teams are there to sell energy drinks as well as for the spirit of competition. Williams is there to do nothing but race and attempt to win. McLaren is practically owned by Mercedes and Ron Dennis is looking to start making more super cars. Ferrari will always sell cars no matter what. Toyota, Renault, & BMW are just there to attempt to move more road car units. Dietrich Mateschitz and his two teams exist because the dude has more money than he knows what to do with and loves racing, plus it probably helps move a few more cans of Red Bull for him. Same deal with Vijay Mallya of Force India. Has a lot of money, likes racing, brands cars with his products.

WilliamsF1: They go racing. That is it. So why give them shit for signing up for F1 in 2010? They've got nowhere else to go and nothing else to do.

I hope the FIA and the FOTA can find a common ground concerning budgets. It would be nice to see some new and competitive teams come into the fold, but everybody has to be competing against the same set of rules. That much is a fact.

What the hells was that?!?!?!

As always, Spa never lets me down. They should race there twice a year as the races are so damn good! Those last three laps almost made me lose control of any and all bodily functions I had to lose control of. I think I got off easy and just sneezed. But I almost shit.

I'm not sure how I feel about Hamilton's penalty. So much shit happened in those closing laps that I think they should just leave good enough alone. You can find fault with things Kimi did in those closing laps, and the FIA stewards have apparently found fault with things Hamilton did. So instead of penalizing Lewis, they should have just let him be because whether or not the penalty is overturned in the appeals process, any fan will never deny Hamilton's closing lap fury so in the end, neither should the FIA.

They speak of the "red rule" about Ferrari always being favored by the FIA but Kimi stands to benefit nothing from the race (other than Hamilton's points lost) and everybody knows that Massa did not deserve that win in any way shape or form. He is one of the most pathetic wet weather drivers out there. Sure, Felipe is ahead of Kimi in the championship and all, so this decision still does benefit Ferrari. However, if the FIA is putting the "red rule" into effect, which I'm not commenting on, you've got to exercise it in a believable way for Christ sakes!

My parting words are: Damn Lewis! and Fuck you Kimi. You little moody bitch.

Nothing is still happening

I'm itching for F1 to get going again. I'm glad the FIA has officially declared Spygate drama closed, since that shit was depressing on a variety of levels. However, now that that garbage has been put to bed nothing at all has been happening and I'm getting to the point where soon enough I'll be popping in old VHS tapes from seasons past just to get my fix. Speaking of which, If anybody out there has any old broadcasts from 2002 and before, hit me up.

Renault not guilty?!

So I just read that Renault are not guilty of the same breach of rules that cost McLaren their constructors championship and $100 million dollars! How is that possible? It even looked like Renault were a bit more guilty than McLaren due to the fact that it seems more people saw the McLaren documents at Renault than McLaren people did of the Ferrari drawings at McLaren. So I must say that I'm quite baffled.

Were Renault cleared of any massive fines because they were purportedly more forthright with the FIA when they supposedly first found out they had McLaren information? Or was it because if Renault were heavily penalized that they may just choose to leave the sport and Fernie Alonso would have no place to race and this would be seen as a massive victory for McLaren who want to win something this year?

I honestly don't know, however I look forward to the FIA's explanation whenever it comes out and hopefully maybe they will revoke McLaren's fine or something, considering Renault was not punished at all, not even posthumously stripped of their 2007 constructor's points, which was what I figured was going to happen.

We will see. Yes. We will see.
